Incredible bit of mid-century design and history here.

On the dial, theres so much to love:

You get a textured “waffle” guillochè paired with lovely faceted indices.

And the “star” of the show: the star 🌟

Something about a star on a vintage watch dial just.. does it for me

Match all those dial elements with the beautiful cabochon crown and 18k yellow gold case and this one gives you a lot to love

Moving inside:

I am continually fascinated Baume et Mercier-finished Felsa 690 “Bidynator” automatic movement

While relatively simple by today’s standards, the Bidynator was the very first bi-directional automatic movement - a departure from the “bumper” movements that pre-dated it

To this day, bi-directional rotor movements are the standard for nearly all automatic calibers

Have been looking for a nice Baume et Mercier to stock for quite a bit - think that they are equal parts exceptional and under appreciated
